What can be done with one stringy bark tree deemed unfit for milling and, destined to be turned into woodchips?

The One Tree exhibition showcases the creative talent of over 50 Tasmanian designer/makers, craftspeople, and artists, from all over the island state.

This is the first time this national touring exhibition will be shown in Launceston.

Since being created in 2001, The One Tree exhibition has toured throughout Australia to wide critical and community acclaim, showing in over twenty locations from Hobart and Darwin, to Perth and Sydney, from major cultural institutions and museums to small community art spaces in regional locations throughout the country.

What: Rally and march at Franklin Square, Hobart.

When: 12.30pm Saturday 17th November.

Why: To call on the elected government to stop the pulp mill. Geoff Cousins and Richard Flanagan to speak.

Sam Thompson, Holger Strie, and Andrew Larner who took their no-pulp mill protest to the top of the Batman Bridge, Tamar River may be pursued for costs.

When: The Freedom Ride scheduled for November 25th has been postponed for the time being. Thank you to the many hundreds who were ready to take part. Please look out for an announcement of a new date.

Where: Meet at Batman Bridge camp ground on the east side of the bridge with your car at a time to be notified.

What: From there a stately procession of cars will travel, at a speed to be notified, to the East Tamar Highway and head towards Georgetown, around the Comalco round-about and back to the Batman Bridge camp ground. The circuit will then be repeated. Finish at the Batman Bridge.

Where : George Town Council offices 16 Anne St George Town (i.e. same place as the ordinary monthly council meetings).

If you are a George Town Municipality elector, we think it would be very advantageous for you to attend the George Town Council annual general meeting where you will be able to voice your opinion and if you want, hand in a submission on the day.

We realise the meeting hasn't been advertised as widely as many electors would expect (i.e. in fact not very much at all).

Sometime in the next few weeks, the ANZ bank will decide if it will fund Gunns' proposed pulp mill.

Help us continue to inform the public and ANZ customers on the bank's role in the destruction of Tasmania's forests and its potential funding of the pulp mill.

We are organising awareness-raising events outside ANZ branches in all major cities across Australia and in New Zealand.

You can help by coming along to the ANZ International Day of Awareness to form a large crowd outside each branch. Please come along in neat dress and bring your friends and family.
