Robin Grays heavy-handed ultimatum to a Launceston City Councilor
that further handouts to his charity, the Launceston City Mission
are dependent on his support for the mill, was later denied by Gray. This
is the story that sparked the controversy.

According to the Mercury, Gray rang all 6 councilors that opposed his
pulp mill to complain personally. In the Van Zetten call that complaint
became a simple ultimatum. No mill support, no donations to the City
Mission. So much for any Gunns community conscience.
