Petition for due process

We have been lobbying and briefing the MLCs in order to help them to understand the consequences of:
(a) the many impacts of the mill that are ignored;
(b) the collapse of due process and;
(c) the decline of probity in government.

The MLC’s have been told their only choice is to vote YES or NO to the pulp mill. This is not true. There is a third way. They can vote NO to the decision making process that has been sold to them by the Government. They don’t have to say NO to the mill per se, just NO to the process.

In order to strengthen the demand by the people's for reinstatement of due process and proper governance we must collect at least 50 000 signatures in a very short time. Should the MLCs choose to ignore the statements of 50 000 Tasmanians, they will have to decide what that might mean for them.

Please download some copies of the petition form from here. Take the forms around friends, neighbours, acquaintances, workplaces etc. You will find that most people are very happy to sign, given the perceptions about the way the government has handled this issue.

If you are a young person or know many young people under voting age, it is OK if they sign A SEPARATE FORM HIGHLIGHTED TO SAY THEY ARE SIGNATURES OF CONCERNED YOUNG PEOPLE TOO YOUNG TO VOTE. These will be separate from the main count, but still very important.

If you do not want this pulp mill and want to reclaim government for the people by the people then this is your last legitimate chance to do something about it. Filled out forms need to be sent to the address at the bottom of the form by August 17th.

Get busy, people!
