While the Federal government is faffing around and having heart attacks over marginal seats, Gunns has just won the election.
How could it fail?
With local and federal government pouring huge subsidies into the company, it is using the money to fund political parties and buy power via the backdoor. As the parties themselves condone this procedure, it must make them accomplices.
Is this not criminal?
If it isn't, it damned well ought to be!
Despite almost unanimous opposition from the people, the politicians are falling over themselves to support this company. WE are paying for our own demise, and those feeding at the trough are getting fatter.
Gunns is now the official ruler of Tasmania and has been handed a mandate to destroy everything with impunity.
Democracy has been lost in the technicalities of the law - laws passed and amended at local level to facilitate just that end. We, the people, have been sacrificed on the pyre of company profits.
While the politicians are shameless and gleeful in this hand-over of power, the champagne corks are popping in the new Gunnerment headquarters.
