A thank you from Ian Norton

Dear TAP members

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to TAP for all the support in assisting me in my election to council, and for all you members who voted for me.

A special thanks to my wife Sylvia and family for being by my side every inch of the way, to Maggie Syms for allowing me use of her fence for my poster, and letterboxing on my behalf. Also Buck and Joan who supported me all through the campaign. And to all my other letterboxers.

I need also to acknowledge my mentor and campaign manager, Basil Fitch. Basil cracked the whip and really kept both Sylvia and me on the road well into the night on may occasions. Without Basil's guidance and perseverance I am not sure I would have made it over the line.

There are many others who encouraged me during my campaign and helped to maintain the rage over this pulp mill fiasco. As Alderman on the City Council, I assure you that I will never give up the fight, a legacy from my father forbids me from going back on my word. My intention is not to rule, but to represent the people of the greater Launceston Municipality.

I entrust to you all the freedom to advise me should I waiver in my duty, and trust that I prove worthy to the role. Thankyou all once again. Justice will prevail. We can, and I believe will win this fight.
